ILKLEY will be giving an Audition to their new faces when they entertain Bradford & Bingley in their first pre-season game at Stacks Field on Saturday.

Head of rugby Rhys Morgan is going to run the rule over some of his young summer recruits as his club start their preparations for their first season in National League Three North.

They include three wingers, Aaron Magee – brother of last season's top try scorer Ben – who has been recruited from Old Grovians, former Malvern player James Bennett, and Nathan Jones from Leeds club Burley.

Morgan also wants to take a close look at new stand-off Ronan Evans, who has played for National league One side Tynedale, who has joined the club.

He could well line-up alongside the versatile former Harrogate player Joe Rowntree, who can play in either half-back role.

There are also newcomers in the back row where Pat Power and Conrad McKenzie are set for their first outings in an Ilkley jersey.

"The new boys have been showing up well in training so it will be good to see how they go in a game," said Morgan. "We know we face a big challenge this season so it is important that we give as many players as possible game time.

"For once the result is not the be all and end all as it will be when the league action starts. The big thing is getting game time, working on combinations, and generally building on the work we have been doing on the training field."
