BARNOLDSWICK residents have welcomed a church club aimed at helping residents improve their employability in tough economic times.

CAP Job Club, run by the Majestic Church, is a service devised by charity Christians Against Poverty, which trains churches to help equip people with the tools and skills to find employment.

One of the recent club attendees in Barnoldswick said: “I’ve enjoyed the course and realise that even though I have been unemployed for such a long time, I do have something to contribute to the workplace.”

CAP Job Club is a weekly drop-in group that combines one-to-one consultations, group support and practical sessions that cover topics such as identifying strengths, CV writing and interview techniques.

Suzanne Hawthorn, Job Club manager, said: “It’s been a great privilege to put this on for the people of Barnoldswick and give them practical tools and techniques to help them back into employment.

“We’re glad to say we’ll be repeating the eight-week practical course on October 1, as part of our ongoing CAP Job Club. We are running an introductory session on September 10 so we’d urge you to get in touch if you’re wanting to get help with job hunting.”
