POLICE and rescuers searched for a missing 89-year-old man on Friday evening.
Officers were extremely concerned for the man's safety and, at 8.30pm, asked a team from the Grassington-based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association to search paths in the Hebden area.
After conducting an extensive search, the team was stood down just before midnight following reports that the man had been seen in Skipton that afternoon. The missing person was eventually located safe and well in Kirkby Lonsdale.
It was the start of a busy Bank Holiday for the team.
They helped a 37-year-old woman who had fallen above White Wells, on Ilkley Moor, on Saturday, and assisted a 26-year-old woman who sustained a lower back injury inside the entrance to Manchester Hole, in Nidderdale, on Sunday.
