THE 143rd Bentham agricultural show kicks off on Saturday.

It will be held at the town's auction mart for the third time.

Organisers are sticking to the tried and tested formula of presenting broadly the same programme as last year.

Val Lawson, who is marking her 21st year in the job as secretary, said the show had shifted to the auction mart because they are now unable to use the traditional field location.

It means the event now no longer has a class for horses, but apart from that, the show will be recognised by regulars.
