EARBY and District Local History Society is holding a party next Saturday, September 12, to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

And the event – at New Road Community Centre – will be used to launch Stephanie Carter’s new book entitled Maids’ Tales.

Running from 10.30am to 1pm, it will also include an exhibition of photographs highlighting the trips, exhibitions, annual dinners and other events organised by the society during the past 20 years.

A free cream tea will be served and there will be an opportunity to buy copies of the book, which takes a look at people in service in the local area.

"We hope all our supporters, friends and members will come along and celebrate with us," said secretary Margaret Brown. "It is our way of saying thank you to all the people who have donated their memories, stories and memorabilia that have contributed to our research, allowing us to produce books and to put on the wide range of exhibitions and talks."
