CHAMPIONS Otley face a title showdown away to leaders Beckwithshaw on the final day of the Division One season on Saturday.

Otley trail the 2013 title winners by six points after they defeated Follifoot by six-wickets and Beckwithshaw scraped a six-run win over Kirkstall Educational.

Any hopes Follifoot had of staying up disappeared when Sam Blake (4-38) and Nick Bulcock (4-23) dismissed them for 123, setting up Otley's victory.

Opener Jonathan Hughes steered Ilkley to victory at Burley to ensure their top flight status while condemning Guiseley and Follifoot to relegation with one game to go.

Dave Pennett (4-47) and Nick Cockcroft (3-50) helped restrict Burley to 170-8 and even though there was some anxiety when Jibrael Malik and Cockcroft were dismissed in quick succession at 90-3, Hughes (89no) and Rob Spivey (36) put on 62 for the fourth wicket and Ilkley were safe.

Stewart Smith’s third half-century in a month couldn’t save Guiseley, who recovered from losing two quick wickets to post a target of 148. North Leeds’ response faltered at times and it was touch and go when their seventh wicket went down at 131, but they managed to get over the line

On a day when runs were hard to come by, there were plenty at Rawdon where Kuda Samunderu (60) and Andrew Doidge (40) top scored in the home side's 237-8. With Nick Goldthorp (4-51) pegging away, Collingham’s reply stuttered when they lost three quick wickets to stand at 172-5 but they recovered to win with one wicket and one ball to spare.

Just as in the top flight, the Second Division fixture lottery has thrown up a last-day showdown, between Skipton and Pool, to see who will go up with Horsforth after both of them, together with fourth-placed Colton, crashed to defeat.

Horsforth, who three years ago had to apply for re-election, clinched their second-successive promotion with a comfortable win at Tong Park Esholt.

Gareth Lee (79) and Johnny Bell (65no) put on 70 for the sixth wicket in Horsforth’s 209-7 before Andy Robinson (6-26) and Matthew Wainwright (4-13) tore through the home batting with only 71 on the board.

Thackley’s Jonathan Rudge (6-43) and Shane Marshall (4-34) did a similar demolition job on Skipton with only Kevin Owens (42) putting up any resistance in their 78 total. Tom Watson (45no) saw Thackley to their eight-wicket win.

Pool might have thought that their 149 total, in which David Paynter top scored with 47, might be enough against struggling Harden but Michael O’Flaherty followed up a three–wicket haul with 83 to clinch a victory which means Harden need only three points against Ben Rhydding to ensure they stay up at the expense of Tong Park Esholt.

That might not be easy if Ben Rhydding are in the mood they showed in halting Colton’s promotion hopes. Lewis Bolton (49) was top scorer as they batted in depth to set a 224 target before Tom Pratt (4-28) and Kervan Christmas (3-38) skittled out Colton of 117.

Chris Spivey took 5-35 as Knaresborough were dismissed for 158 and Waleed Akhtar (57) and Azhar Mehmood (52no) helped Green Lane recover from 20-3 to win the game but it was not enough to save them from relegation.

Any two of the top four can win promotion from Division Three after leaders Addingham suffered a setback with a ten-wicket defeat at the hands of fourth-placed New Rover.

Jatinder Singh took three wickets in four balls to finish a 4.5 over spell of 6-6 then hit five fours in an unbeaten 28 as Calverley passed Upper Wharfedale’s 57 with eight wickets in hand.

But their success meant they could not pick up any batting bonus and they were overtaken in second place by Olicanian, who crushed Old Modernians. Chris Wheeler (82) top scored in Olicanian’s 186-6 before Ed Broadley snapped up 5-5 as the visitors crumbled out with just 28 on the board.

Gary Walton (58) and James Carlill (4-55) starred as Hall Park beat Silsden by seven wickets but Park are just out of the promotion race.

Charlie Parker (4-19) took his season’s wicket tally past 70 as Menston beat Bardsey by 96 runs with Josh Dracup hitting 65.
