DANNY Bolton has said personal agendas affecting the club's progress was part of the reason for his resignation as Silsden joint manager.

Bolton has stepped down having returned to the club last season to join forces at the helm with Ryan Haigh, who has now been put in full charge.

In a statement, Bolton said: “I leave the club in the capable hands of Ryan, but can no longer continue due to a mixture of work, family and also personal agendas at the club frustrating its progress.”

“I came back to the club extremely positive and have wanted to be a big part of the future, but on occasions I feel its been like banging my head against the wall.

"It has, to be honest, drained me on top of recent personal circumstances. I'm sure the club will undergo a change and maybe a restructure and I wish all the best for the season and beyond.”

The announcement was delayed to enable the club, and Haigh in particular, to focus on Saturday's FA Vase game at home to Daisy Hill, which Silsden won 6-0.

The club, who reluctantly accepted his resignation, said in a statement: "The committee would like to thank Danny for all his efforts.

"Football at this level is very demanding with 42 league games, FA Cup, FA Vase, and County Cup games and pre-season matches. The club wish to thank Danny for all he has done and wish him and his family well. The family and health must always come first.

"Danny is always welcome down at the Angel Telecom Stadium. The committee will do all in their power to support Ryan and the team in the foreseeable future."

Silsden Academy manager Paul Evans has been appointed as Haigh's assistant.
