POLICE have named the motorcyclist who died as in a collision at Cleatop near Settle on Saturday.

He was Robert Allaway, 46 from Long Preston. He was known to family and friends as Bob.

The collision happened at around midday on Saturday on the A65 near The Courtyard, Cleatop.

It involved a black Nissan Note car travelling south towards Long Preston and Mr Allerway's yellow Pioneer motorcycle travelling north towards Settle.

Mr Allaway died at the scene. The driver of the Nissan car, a 48-year-old man from Leeds, was arrested at the scene and has since been released on bail to allow for further inquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision itself or the manner in which either vehicle was been used prior to the collision is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and select option 2 and ask for TCMartin Mulcaster of the Major Collision Investigation Team or email Martin.Mulcaster@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
