COWLING children celebrated global diversity as part of the European Day of Languages.

Pupils wore either traditional dress or the colours of the flags of their chosen country.

The youngest children in reception found out more about France, learning songs and beginning to count. Children in class two recreated famous Italian buildings, making the Coliseum, Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Pantheon from cardboard boxes, while class three pupils found out about Brazil, ahead of the 2016 Olympics.

Focusing on Mexico, children in class four took part in a range of activities including learning a traditional song, while class five pupils researched the work of the Spanish artist Miro.

Headteacher Sue Marshall said: β€œIt was a lovely day of colour and fun which brought the curriculum to life. We hope lots of our children have been inspired to find out more about the world around them and to develop an interest in languages.”
