MARTIN House Children’s Hospice is offering local people the opportunity to celebrate the life of someone special by making a dedication through their Light up a Life Appeal.

Donations made over the festive season will go towards supporting families across North, East and West Yorkshire.

For a donation to Martin House, supporters can dedicate a Christmas tree light to a family member or friend as well as receiving a personalised keepsake card and a listing in commemorative books on display across the region.

Supporters will also have the opportunity to attend a new family service at Holy Trinity Church, Skipton, on Thursday, December 10, at 7pm.

Hosted by Rector Veronica James, the service will include carols, prayers and time for remembering.

She said: “Christmas can be a time when we remember loved ones who have died, but it is also a time for celebration. We are delighted to be hosting Martin House’s new Light up a Life service at Holy Trinity and we would encourage anyone who is looking for a special way to remember someone close to them to come along.

"As well as celebrating a life, your dedication will make a big difference to hospice families, many of which come from the Craven district.”

Dedications and donations to the Light up a Life Appeal can be made online at martinhouse.org.uk, in the Martin House shop at 34 Sheep Street, Skipton, or over the phone on 01937 844569.

Commemorative books will be on display until Twelfth Night and dedications can be made until January 5.
