A PLANNING inspector will decide whether a part-subterranean eco house can be built on land at Cracoe.
The application was refused by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority in the summer.
The authority said the site was outside Cracoe's development boundaries, the house would not reflect the compact nature of the village and its design, scale, layout and form would not harmonise well with the built character of nearby buildings.
However, the applicants, a Littondale family, claimed the planned sustainable, carbon neutral home respected the rural nature of the site, had an extensive number of environmental resources and was of exceptional contemporary design.
The application will now be decided by a planning inspector on the basis of written representations.
