PUPILS at a Barnoldswick school have spoken out in celebration of diversity.
West Craven High School students excelled at public speaking and won the Pendle Building Bridges programme.
The community project based in Nelson encourages community cohesion by bringing together members of the diverse and multi-cultural community to realise and celebrate difference. Local schools were asked to support the Building Bridges project with a £500 budget.
Competing against their peers from other schools, West Craven's four Year 9 students - Megan Ashley, Sally McGlashan, Caitlin Scott and Molly Stowe - took their idea “All=” (All equal) to a panel of judges, successfully persuading the project to organise an Around the World Food and Music Event.
The girls said: “We are absolutely thrilled at winning this event and we are so excited that our idea will be turned into reality. We can't wait to get started with organising and hosting this event.”
