A SETTLE woman who has been battling back from breast cancer is celebrating her last chemotherapy session by planning a series of charity runs.

Keen runner Molly Fuchs says she can't wait to hit the road again, after several months of treatment, to raise cash for Bowel Cancer UK and Airedale Hospital's oncology ward.

Molly, of Duke Street, was preparing for last year's Great North Run in Gateshead when she was diagnosed with cancer and was forced to put her training on hold.

But after completing her course of treatment, she says she is looking forward to supporting her pal, Lizzie Jones, on a rugby union-themed run from Twickenham to Cardiff for the bowel cancer charity in March.

Molly, 50, who works for an online holiday lets firm, said: "Lizzie is running for six days but I am only intending to do a couple of miles for the days I'll be with her.

"Obviously, chemotherapy takes it out of you, so I have to take it fairly easy for a while yet, but I'm looking forward to doing some runs in the next few months. It's all about me getting fitter again, losing some of the weight I've put on, and raising some cash for charity.

"My dad died of bowel cancer so I support Bowel Cancer UK in his memory and I want to raise money for an electronic chair for Airedale's oncology unit. They do such great work and a chair makes such a difference for patients."

Among the runs Molly is focussing on are the nine-kilometre 'chocathon' in Huddersfield – where participants eat chocolate at regular intervals – and similar wine, cake and pie-themed events!

And she also hopes to get fit enough to complete the Great North Run in September and the Yorkshire Marathon in October.
