CYCLING fans gearing up for the Tour de Yorkshire can snap up jerseys featuring host town Settle.

As the chosen finish of the first stage of the race, due to take place on Friday, April 29, Settle has been included in the official, commemorative jerseys.

The town, along with Otley, is one of the six towns where each of the three-stage race will either start or finish.

The blue, short-sleeve jersey, with styles for both men and women, in addition to the names of the towns, include the Tour de Yorkshire logo, the Yorkshire Rose and a Y pattern.

Ed Cowburn of designers Milltag, said: "The design has evolved from the 2015 edition, and the greatest difference is the colour. A darker blue has been added as a nod to the colours of back-to-back champions - Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

"To celebrate the start and finish towns for each stage, we have created a graphic focused around a Yorkshire rose that appears subtly on the back of jersey and will feature across the race winners' jerseys too. The Y pattern inspired by Yorkshire’s textile heritage also features, as it did last year.”

Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire said the jersey reflected the county's proud sporting heritage.

"Each host town is named on the back and I very much look forward to seeing it being proudly worn by riders across the world.”

Stage One of the race starts in Beverley and finishes 185km later in Settle. Cyclists will pass through Grassington, Threshfield, Cracoe, Gargrave, Hellifield, Long Preston and Giggleswick.
