A FLOOD alert is in place for the upper catchment area of the River Aire.
The Environment Agency says the river has responded to yesterday’s rainfall and its levels are expected to remain high through today.
It adds: “The washlands at Skipton and Cononley are filling. As catchments remain very wet from previous rain, rivers are expected to respond quickly to any further rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation.”
The alert covers an area stretching from Gargrave to Stockbridge, including Eshton Beck, Eller Beck in Skipton and Silsden Beck.
