A SKIPTON firm has vowed to back a charity foundation run by cricketing legend Sir Ian Botham for the next two years.

Whitakers Chocolates has chosen 'Beefy's Charity Foundation' as its charitable cause throughout 2016 and 2017.

The Botham foundation helps to fund several specific projects relating to chronic illnesses faced by young people, including research into brain tumours and juvenile diabetes.

Whitaker's will arrange a series of fundraising events and activities, and will be supporting the ‘Ice Pole Ball’ in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which takes place in London in June.

The company's managing director William Whitaker said: "We look forward to working with Sir Ian Botham and his team, and help to make a difference with the support we provide over the next two years.”

Sir Ian started his charity fundraising in 1985 with a walk from John O'Groats to Land's End and last year marked its 30th anniversary with a walk around South Africa which raised over £1m for leukaemia and lymphoma research.
