YOUNG entrepreneurs have won backing from business bosses after impressing them with their Dragon's Den-type presentations..

The year four, five and six youngsters at Threshfield Primary School made such robust bids that Sarah Brookfield-Brewis, marketing manager for Individual Inns; Diane Lowe, of Grassington Lodge; and Chris Gregson of The Fountaine Inn at Linton, pledged to back all four projects.

They were won over by Smooth Roll – smoothies at school; Foodie Movie – regular themed movie and meal events; Candy Kids – homemade truffles to order; and Pizza Co – ready-to-bake pizzas.

Headteacher, Richard Cook, said: "Our pupils did such an excellent job of researching and preparing their presentations and delivered them with such confidence and excellent marketing skills that all three dragons were so impressed, they were willing to invest their own money in all four of the business proposals.

"All four businesses presented their proposals and were subjected to a range of challenging questions, probing the robustness of their money making schemes and their market research."

The idea came from parent and governor, Chris Gregson, and was fantastically supported by the community, added Mr Cook.
