BLACKSMITH Annabelle Bradley at work in her forge sparked photography student Shaun Richardson to create a series of images which are now on display at the Yorkshire Dales National Park centre in Malham.

His assignment was to capture six photographs of a person involved in an industrial skill or craft and Annabelle, who works from Malham Smithy, proved to be the ideal subject.

Shaun, 54, who is studying photographic media at Blackburn University, said: "I was made redundant in December 2009 after working for 20 years but have always been interested in photography so in September 2013 I enrolled to study it.

"Working in production since leaving school in 1977, I have always been interested in the process involved in making products. The assignment was possibly the most interesting and rewarding one over my three years at university

"I instantly knew this would make a very interesting photographic assignment. Annabelle is very professional and nothing was too much trouble for her."

Annabelle, who lives in Malham, said: "Shaun has done a great job - the images are very effective. It is technically difficult to take pictures in a working forge, especially in relation to the lighting."

Annaballe hopes eventually to display some of Shaun's work in the forge where her work is essentially artistic blacksmithing which involves sculptural work.
