FIVE women who all started courses at a teacher training college half a century ago have reunited at Silsden.

They met up at the home of Janet Hebden, with four women also bringing their husbands.

The group started together at the Margaret McMillan College in Bradford when they were just 18 years old and have kept in touch ever since, meeting up every couple of years despite living as far afield as Cornwall, Bedford and the Wirral.

During the latest reunion, the friends visited several Bradford landmarks from their student days.

"For most it was their first time in the city since 1994 when they visited for my silver wedding,” said Mrs Hebden. “There have been a lot of changes.

“They are bulldozing the college, but there were still areas of the university that people recognised.

“We also went to Salts Mill and Lister Park, where we spent rag days and time doing the daft things we did when we were all 18.

“It is a friendship that has spanned 50 years.”
