SKIPTON Academy has secured £200,000 from the Department for Education's Condition Improvement Fund.

The money will be spent on upgrading the academy's boiler system to make it energy efficient and enhance its green credentials.

Since the Academy opened in September 2014, it has received more than £450,000 in central government funding.

Principal, Wendy Hamilton, said: "It may not sound like the most exciting project, but this is essential and expensive work and will make a huge difference to us.

"It will also bring huge cost savings, meaning there is more money for us to reinvest in the students, their education and the resources available to them. It is also another sign of the Department's confidence in the academy."
