BUDDING builders were given an insight into the world of work by social housing group Incommunities.
Ten youngsters – including Cowling girl Harriet Robinson – took part in a 'bring your daughters to work' initiative at the group's construction training centre.
The venture was organised to round off Incommunities' celebrations of International Women's Day.
During the taster session, the girls tried their hand at practical plumbing, joinery and plastering tasks, as well as electrical alarm testing, under the supervision of trades professionals.
They also built and decorated wooden money and trinket boxes.
The group's assistant chief executive, Greg Robinson, said: "As an equal opportunities employer, we are committed to encouraging everyone – male and female – to reach their potential and build successful careers.
"Through events like this, we want to open up the world of work to young people and construction is one area where it would be great to see more women take up professional trade careers."
