FOUR students from South Craven School at Cross Hills attended an event aimed at encouraging girls to consider careers in engineering.

Cydney Hill, Amelia Buchanan, Emily Jennison and Olivia Nichols joined pupils from two other schools for the session at engineering consultants NG Bailey, in Bradford.

The venture was part of Your Life BST, an industry-led Government-supported campaign to showcase to students what is available with businesses in their area.

The youngsters took part in a range of challenges and gave presentations.

"All three schools collaborated well in the teamwork tasks and interacted well with the NG Bailey staff – posing interesting questions during the question-and-answer session to deepen their insight into the company and the work it does," said an event spokesman.

"The presentations at the end of the day were delivered with professionalism, maturity, confidence and flair.

"All the work they produced was to a very high standard and they should be proud of what they accomplished."
