SALTERFORTH is revving up for its popular Fun Day on Sunday, June 12.

The event, which has been running for more than 25 years, will be held, rain or shine, from noon to 4.30pm.

Ainsley Ashby, the DJ and comp?re for the day, will keep a lively and happy atmosphere going.

This year will see more traditional children's events, including egg and spoon and sack races.

The tea tent will have freshly-made sandwiches, home-made cakes and butcher-made burgers from the barbecue.

There will be donkeys for the children to enjoy and the fairground, which was introduced last year, will be on the field again with giant inflatables.

There will also be the famous Fun Day race up Salterforth 'Drag', with male and female cash prizes for each of the three categories of entrants – adult, intermediates and juniors. It is a short ascent, which takes between eight and 15 minutes to complete.

It will be held at 3pm and potential runners need to register on the field from 1.30pm. Registration costs £1.50 for anyone 16 years or older, and £1 for under-16s.
