A MONTHLY coffee morning that takes place at the King's Head in Kettlewell has raised more than £2,860 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Village resident Babs Westerman was inspired to raise money for the charity after a friend and neighbour was injured in an accident in January 2015 and required the services of the air ambulance.
The original target was to raise £1,000 as a 'thank you', but the coffee mornings were so well received they continued and, with the help of friends in the village who baked for and organised the event, the target was soon exceeded.
Mrs Westerman said: "I am overwhelmed by the support and generosity of the village and the King's Head, who have all given their time and services for free.
"As well as raising money for a deserving cause, these mornings have been a fun monthly event for villagers and visitors alike."
The coffee mornings will now take a break for the summer months and will resume on the first Wednesday in September.
