CRAVEN householders and business owners hit by the Boxing Day floods could still be eligible for cash aid.

That's the message from North Yorkshire County Council, which says it and the district authorities have Government funding to provide grants of up to £5,000.

The so-called resilience grant helps flood victims to better prepare their homes or businesses for any future deluge.

Council leader, Cllr Carl Les, said: "These grants are available to help people and businesses protect their properties from any future flooding, and it's important that anyone who thinks they are eligible should apply. I would urge them to get in touch to find out."

Visit northyorks.gov.uk/flooding for more details and to apply. Paper copies of the form can be obtained by calling 01609 780780.

People can also apply for funding from a North Yorkshire flood appeal, which has raised about £222,000.
