LIBRARIES acroos Craven are celebrating an annual Festival of Learning.

The event – previously known as Adult Learners' Week – is bringing together organisations across the county, offering people opportunities to learn something new.

Libraries are staging events to encourage adults of all abilities to brush-up on basic skills or take-up a fresh interest.

The campaign runs throughout this month and next.

Councillor Chris Metcalfe, North Yorkshire County Council executive member for library and information services, said: "The Festival of Learning is a valuable way of encouraging adults to learn, while at the same time giving us the opportunity to let people know about the services on offer in our libraries that can help people in developing new skills.

"The festival provides the opportunity for people to explore the many different kinds of learning – whether it is about getting a better job, being able to help their children with schoolwork or discovering something new about the world around them."

People are advised to visit their local library for more details of activities in the area.
