A LIFESAVING defibrillator has been installed for community use outside Steeton business.
The machine – one of 25 placed across the area by NHS Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – is at Acorn Stairlifts, in the Millennium Business Park, Station Road.
A set of instructions is provided so members of the public with no training or medical experience can use it.
Dr Colin Renwick, clinical chairman of NHS Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG, said: "Following a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival decreases by 23 per cent per minute, so it's vital medical treatment starts as soon as possible.
"We want to give all our patients the best chance of survival and to make a full recovery."
Rachel Shaw, facilities manager at Acorn Stairlifts, said the firm welcomed the chance to be involved.
"We are delighted to be able to provide a community service such as this by making the lifesaving equipment available for nearby businesses and the local neighbourhood," she added.
