A WELL-USED footpath between Sutton-in-Craven and Eastburn Bridge has been made more pedestrian-friendly.

Councillor Philip Barrett put in £4,500 from his locality budget money, while Sutton Parish Council stumped up £1,200, enabling the beckside path to be resurfaced.

Cllr Barrett said he hoped the improved route will be welcomed by residents and help remove the need to walk along busy Sutton Lane, which does not have a footpath.

He said: "I was really pleased to support this grant application by Sutton Parish Council and this partnership approach to funding.

"These improvements will encourage even more use of this footpath and, at the same time, will hopefully deter pedestrians from walking in Sutton Lane where there is no footway."

He added: "The local tarmacadam contractors have done an excellent job and the county council's public right of way officers have been very supportive in assisting with the delivery of this local project."

Sutton Parish Council clerk, Denise Emmott, said the improvements had received positive feedback from residents, and thanked Cllr Barrett for supporting the council's application for money.
