HISTORY expert Steven Howarth will give a talk on Craven's Territorials in the Great War: the 1/6th Battalion Duke of Wellington's (WR) Regiment 1914-16.

The talk – which will take place at The Folly in Settle tomorrow – is part of the Heritage Lottery-funded Craven and the First World War Project and has been organised in conjunction with The Folly's current exhibition, 1916: Chronicles of Courage, which runs until October 30.

Mr Howarth is head of the history department at Ermysted's Grammar School in Skipton, and an expert in Craven's First World War history. In his talk, he will follow the part played by local lads for the entirety of the war. The men came from all walks of life and many had joined the Territorials before 1914, probably looking for adventure, but found themselves at all the major battlefields of the war.

The talk will start at 7.30pm and tickets, priced £7, can be booked in advance on 01729 822893 or via the ncbpt.org.uk/folly website.
