A SUTTON choir is inviting back a leading young musician to perform at its latest concert next Sunday, July 3.

The KVU Singers will share the stage at Christ Church, Skipton, with violinist William Dutton.

He will play music by Saraste, Schubert, Richard Strauss and Tchaikovsky.

During the concert the KVU Singers will perform a selection of songs including some to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

For many years KVU Singers, former Keighley Vocal Union, have promoted concerts to showcase the talents of local young musicians.

William was just 11 years old when he first performed with the choir after becoming BBC2’s Chorister of the Year.

He went on to broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 2, before concentrating on the violin.

Born in Leeds in 1995, William began taking regular violin lessons when he was four, and in 2008 gained a place at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey.

He led the viola section of the Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra in the Menuhin festival in Gstaad in 2012, playing on Lord Menuhin’s Testore viola.

In 2014, William won the Strings Final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition.

William is now an undergraduate student at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne and plays on a 1731 Cremonese violin, loaned to him by Jonathan Sparey and previously owned by the late Michael Rabin.

He will be accompanied by pianist Richard Uttley, who has been praised for his “musical intelligence, amazing decisiveness and tumultuous performance".

Born in Bradford, Richard graduated with a double first in Music at Clare College, Cambridge, in 2008.

He then studied piano at the Guildhall School, one of the world’s leading Conservatoires. His awards include first prizes in the Haverhill and British Contemporary Piano competitions.

Richard has released three CDs and appeared at the Cheltenham, Beaminster and Manchester International Festivals.

The concert will begin at 7.30pm and tickets costing £10 (under 16s free) are available by emailing info@kvusingers.co.uk or calling 01535 637425 or 653009.
