BOARD members, governors and staff from Airedale Hospital will hold a special health event in Barnoldswick next week.

The Health Event, which will be staged at the Civic Hall on Wednesday, will give residents the opportunity to hear about what Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is doing in the area and the latest developments at Airedale Hospital.

Members of the public will be able to attend a board meeting from 10.30am to 12.30pm followed by an ‘Ask the Board’ session.

And there will be a health fair with a number of stands from 1pm to 3pm, including health checks and the latest information on gynaecology, maternity and children’s services offered by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

There will also be demonstrations of the hospital’s telemedicine service and a video tour of the new £6 million emergency department.

Directors and governors will be on hand to listen to residents’ feedback and to discuss the issues that matter to them. There will also be stands from other health organisations, including Pendle Leisure Trust, INSPIRE substance misuse service and local pharmacies.

Val Kimberley, trust governor for West Craven, said: “We’re very much looking forward to meeting people from the Pendle district and hearing about what matters most to them.

"We’ve had some exciting developments recently at the trust, which we’re keen to share, and also to understand how we can do more to support people from the Pendle area.

"There is no need to book, you can just turn up on the day and stay for as much or as little of the event as you’d like to.”

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
