INGLEBOROUGH – the most iconic of the Three Peaks – will be the subject of a talk in Ingleton next week.
Probably the best known and most recognisable hill in the Yorkshire Dales, it has been for more than two centuries a magnet for visitors, who come either to marvel at its majestic profile, to experience the challenges it offers or to explore the remains of the ancient, 15-acre hillfort on its summit.
And, on Monday, Dr David Johnston – a long-time Ingleborough enthusiast, historian and author – will give a talk about how people from the end of the Ice Age to the present day have made the most of what the mountain has to offer, and how their lives have been shaped by it throughout the centuries. Part of the Overground Underground Festival, this talk will appeal to everyone who loves the Yorkshire Dales and the great fells of northern England.
It will take place at 7.30pm and tickets cost £3, with booking advised. Call Ingleton Library 01609 534504 or e-mail ingleton.library@northyorks.gov.uk for more details.
Refreshments will be available.
