FRIENDS of the Settle-Carlisle Railway Line have a number of walks planned this weekend.

There is a 12-mile moderately strenuous walk on Saturday, taking in Malham Tarn and Gordale Scar. This leaves Settle at 9.50am and connects with a service bus from Malham to Skipton.

Also on Saturday, there is a walk from Dent to Ribblehead via Craven Way. This is an 11-mile moderately strenuous walk leaving Dent at 10.16am.

There is a Swaledale Walk via Marrick Priory on Sunday. This is a nine-mile strenuous walk leaving Ribblehead Station at 10.28am to connect with service bus to Grinton and returning to the station via the service bus from Reeth.

No reservation is needed, but participants are reminded it is their responsibility to make sure they are appropriately clothed, carry a packed lunch, where required, and have suitable footwear.

There will also be an opportunity to find out more about the real Jericho on July 28. This is a free event and will include a tour of the visitor centre at Ribblehead and discussions about the Jericho shanty town, followed by a walk around the viaduct amongst the shanty town remains.
