A FUNDRAISING street fair will be held in Barnoldswick town square this weekend.

The Alice in Barlickland themed street fair, which runs from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday, will raise money towards staging a welcome return of Barnoldswick Gala in 2017.

Organisers need to raise at least £5,000 to put on the gala, which was a fixture on the Barnoldswick calendar from 1960 to 2003.

"All the proceeds from the street fair will go to bringing Barlick Gala back where it belongs," said organiser, Kate Metcalfe.

The street fair will include Alice in Barlickland street performers. Children are encouraged to come in Alice in Wonderland themed fancy dress, they can create the Maddest Hat and there will be a Mad Hatter's tea party.

There will be performances by a flame thrower, the Stevie Monk Dancers and Little Dragons Phoenix Martial Arts, and music by the bands Fandjangos, Record Street and Tickety-Boo, as well as solo artist Mollie Jesson. Karl Honeyman will DJ the event.
