RESIDENTS of North Parade, Skipton, were left with a difficult journey to their post box after essential work to a gas main left it stranded.
The post box was marooned for five days while Northern Gas Networks (NGN) carried out the essential work - although collections still took place.
Jade Wardle, stakeholder manager for NGN, said: “We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these works, and thank everyone for their patience.”
The work to upgrade ageing gas mains in North Parade - is now finished.
It was part of NGN’s ongoing investment in the gas infrastructure in the area to ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.
Following on site investigation works it was found necessary to cordon off the post box on North Parade in order for engineers to complete the work safely and efficiently.
Access to the post box was maintained for Royal Mail staff at all times.
