A CHARITY clay pigeon shoot organised by a grateful heart transplant patient, has raised £2,000 for the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle.

Bill Riley, 58, from Sutton-in-Craven, organised the event at Upwood Hall, West Morton, as a way of thanking the hospital where he had a successful heart transplant last year.

Mr Riley, and his partner, Barbara Beale, said they were delighted with the amount raised and thanked all the businesses who donated gifts to the raffle.

"We would particularly like to thank Lewis Robertshaw, Nobby Clarke, David Salts and Sylvia and Phil's Pantry for the catering, and all those who attended and supported the event, " said Bill.

All the money raised will go towards the hospital's transplant unit.
