SIX walkers from Wigglesworth have take the final steps in raising the cash for the village's first life-saving defibrillator.
They completed a marathon return sponsored trek between Bolton-le-Sands and Glasson Dock on the River Lune near Morecambe to complete a fundraising drive by villagers which has seen them raise several thousand pounds in just two months.
The defibrillator, which can deliver a resuscitating electric shock to someone suffering cardiac arrest, will be sited outside the village's Plough Hotel and volunteers are being trained to use it in an emergency.
A fundraising drive for a second machine, to be sited at the village's community centre, is already underway.
