COWLING Community Primary School pupils William and Jessica Cluny have no excuse not to eat their greens – their dad delivers fruit and vegetables by the van-load to their school!
They and their friends tuck into a colourful box of delights every lunchtime, courtesy of their father Ben Cluny, from Skipton-based Class One fruit and veg delivery company, who drops a big box of fruit and vegetables at the school kitchen each week.
As part of the school’s annual harvest festival service, Ben pulled out all the stops for the children’s special
assembly by donating a colourful centrepiece, with giant sculptures of fruit, a tractor-load of pumpkins and even flower vases made out of cabbages.
It certainly teaches their classmates a thing or two. While most children traditionally dread school dinners, William, six, and four-year-old Jessica look forward to theirs.
“I like the fact, all my friends are eating the fruit and vegetables my dad delivers,” said William. “Jessica likes the carrots best and I love the peppers!”
Headteacher, Susan Marshall, said: “We were overwhelmed with the fantastic display Ben donated. We want all our pupils to enjoy a healthy lunch with a good helping of fresh fruit and vegetables."
