OUTDOORS-loving youngsters from Craven are being invited to help look after a national park.

Young Rangers are being sought to work alongside staff in the Yorkshire Dales.

Eleven-to-16-year-olds would carry out a range of tasks, from path maintenance to survey work.

Rachael Alderson, Young Rangers officer with the Yorkshire Dales National Park authority, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for young people to work alongside our rangers, other fantastic organisations and landowners.

"There is lots of practical work as well as being able to get out and have fun while meeting new people and discovering the places around them.

"The group also gives young people the chance to clock-up volunteer hours or to work towards a John Muir Award, an environmental scheme.

"And looking further ahead for some of the older members, it's an opportunity to think about possible career options in the National Park and the environment generally."
