A GROUP of ten friends from Grassington tackled the national three peaks and raised more than £1,860 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

The friends walked the peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in a gruelling under 24 hours in June - and have just finished collecting in all their money.

One of the mountains had to be climbed in the dark to hit the under 24 hour target, and the group had to be ferried quickly and safety by car to each leg.

Team member, Paul Webster, who has raised money for Manorlands in the past, said: "It was a fantastic effort covering the three mountains, especially Scafell which we completed throughout the night, we would like to thank our support crew Helen and Susanne who drove the group between each mountain."

Karen Jones, hospice fundraiser said: "We are really grateful to Paul and the team for taking on such a challenge and raising funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. The money raised will help the hospice to continue to provide incredible care to patients in either the hospice or in their own homes."

Manorlands is inviting people to take part in the Iceland Lava Trek, to find out more, go to the website sueryder.org/iceland or telephone the fundraising office on 01535 640430.
