CHRISTMAS shoppers can find more than 50 designers and artisans showing their wares at a Winter Wonderland in the Yorkshire Dales.

The Garden Rooms at Tennants of Leyburn have teamed up with award-winning regional magazine Living to present the special event on December 9 and 10.

The Winter Wonderland Christmas Fair aims to offer an alternative to the crowded high street with gifts, decorations and food.

The event, its second year, will run on the Friday from 10am to 6pm and the Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

Exhibitors this year include Bleikers Smokehouse, the Whitby Jet Jeweller, Cooks & Kitchens and Berber Leather.

A 20-foot Christmas tree will share the Garden Rooms’ entrance hall with the sweeping staircase, and mince pies will be offered to customers.

The venue’s new Cloisters, a rustic courtyard space with open beams and flagged floors, will a host festive food court with specialities from local producers.

Santa and his Chief Elf will be in their North Pole workshop on the Saturday, where children can make bears to take home for Christmas. A separate charge applies and booking is essential.

Visitors can try the Christmas menu in the family-friendly café, or have a Christmas cocktail in the restaurant.

Thirsk Birds of Prey will take along live birds for people to see up close.
