FAMILY and friends of a Silsden mum suffering from cancer abseiled down the side of a Bradford hotel to raise funds for vital treatment.

Eighteen people took on the challenge at the Jurys Inn, Thornton Road, on Sunday, in aid of Sally Major. The 32-year-old mum-of-four is suffering from bowel cancer and needs to raise £102,000 for the treatment, which is only available privately.

Her husband Liam Major, 31, said Sally would be in Germany this week for the first part of her treatment.

He added: “It is crucial. We have about £40,000, but we need £102,000 for the first three weeks of treatment. That should hopefully do it, but there could be need for repeat treatment in future.

“Thank you to everybody – we are eternally grateful for everything everyone has done so far. Any more help, any ideas, or any donations – every penny counts.

“Myself, Sally and the family are massively grateful.”

Sally, whose children are aged 12, 11, six and two, was diagnosed with bowel cancer last year.

Her sisters Becci and Vanessa were among those who tackled the abseil.
