INVESTIGATIONS are underway following an attempted break-in earlier today at jewellers H Samuel in Skipton High Street.

Police were alerted at 2.25am to reports of the alarm going off and a possible break in taking place.

A police spokesman said a grate cover had been used to attempt to smash the window.

Officers conducted a search of the area after witnesses described seeing a man in dark clothing and a hood leaving the scene.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and currently remains in police custody.
