ALCOHOL awareness was brought into focus for Year 7 and 8 students at West Craven High School in Barnoldswick through an interactive theatre performance.

Students watched Smashed, a thought provoking theatre performance and evaluation on the facts about alcohol produced by Collingwood Learning.

The initiative, which has gained national recognition in education from the government and the EU, is viewed as an essential part of alcohol education provision.

Students explored the causes and consequences of alcohol misuse, tackling peer pressure and about making informed choices.

Year 8 student, Claudia Van Essen, said: “It was very funny, but a very serious message was put across.”

Alisha Amer added: “It was absolutely hilarious. It was really helpful and fun, but sent out a very serious message about alcohol in a fun and enjoyable way.”
