A DALES pub hit the bullseye with a darts and dominoes night.

The event raised £1,211 for Airedale Hospital's stroke ward.

Organisers staged the extravaganza in tribute to the care received on the ward by pub regular, Avril Palmer.

"We wanted to say thank-you to the staff by raising money to help buy equipment and as Avril enjoys darts and dominoes this felt like the obvious way to do it!" said Carol Stott, landlady of the Helwith Bridge Inn, near Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

Stroke-ward senior sister, Anthea Wagstaff, thanked the pub for its support.

"We are so grateful for the money as it means we can make some changes to the ward to make rehabilitation easier and help give patients a better recovery," she said.

"We're very pleased at the progress Avril has made – she's a star!"
