WITH the upheavals all around the world at the moment, the Austwick Community Players are providing an escape to the South Seas in their latest production.

On Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4, the Austwick Players will be 'relaxing on a paradise island, enjoying the ecology and gastronomy - but keeping an eye open for pirates and things lurking in the jungle'.

The Players, who perform annual production, have been preparing a comedy show since November.

This year's show, Pandemonium in Paradise, is one for the family with a very snappy script, colourful costumes and enormous fun.

In a tradition going back over 40 years, the play is written, produced and performed by people from Lawkland and Austwick parishes.

Two public performances are put on in aid of the parishes' annual evening for residents aged over 65, and draws in an audience from the North Craven area and beyond.

Next week's shows in Austwick Parish Hall take place at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7pm.

Tickets, which include refreshments, cost £6 for adults and £2.50 children.

They are available from Austwick village shop on 015242 51415 or from any of the Austwick Players.
