A SILSDEN community interest company which provides an outlet for craftspeople has unveiled more of its ambitious plans.

Been Busy is launching a host of new activities, in the wake of hugely-successful drop-in sessions where the public had the chance to put forward ideas.

The organisation closed its former shop, from which crafters could sell their goods, last September.

But recently the lease was signed on new premises, at The Office, 25 Kirkgate, where a range of craft and other courses is being organised.

And from March 1, goods by local crafters will be on sale again.

"The drop-in events were very well-attended and the responses have helped us come up with an exciting programme," said Angela Malcolm, who founded the venture with husband Neil over two years ago.

Learn to knit – and knit & natter – sessions will be offered on Tuesday evenings, and alternate weeks there will be the chance to help remodel bridalwear into gowns for babies born sleeping.

Fortnightly quilting classes are being held, alternating with sewing sessions which focus on recycling garments to create other items.

The Janets recently staged a Flowers for Fun session and in the coming weeks they will run more flower workshops, plus jewellery making. The cost will vary, with all materials provided.

Other craft-related plans include activities for parents and carers with their youngsters and 'crafty' children's parties.

But not only craftspeople are being catered for.

They also staged a session on Sunday to give people a basic introduction to computers.

"It was aimed at those who want to try using a computer for the first time or brush-up on basic skills," said Mrs Malcolm.

"Future sessions will include how to e-mail and Skype and use social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

"Alongside that, we are inviting people who would be interested in setting-up a specific men's group to come along. Bring your Sunday paper and have a free hot drink and a biscuit or two, chat with other men or just chill.

"We will also provide other courses covering various topics.

"Prices will continue to reflect our 'not for profit' ethos and we hope to get more funding so we can provide free and low-cost sessions.

"We're also offering 'Craft Your Own Wedding' sessions, where we will work with the bride to design invitations, table centres, bouquets etc – all aimed at having fun while keeping costs down."
