AIREDALE Hospital is seeking volunteers.

Recruits are needed to help in shops and cafes at the Steeton site and with the ward trolley service.

The volunteers would be asked to work just a few hours a week and flexible shifts are available.

Duties in the shops and cafes range from serving customers to stocking shelves.

The trolley staff work in pairs, making regular visits to the wards.

Training and full support is given for both roles.

Existing volunteers include Ena Senior, who said: "I love my trolley role. I've been doing it for years.

"I really enjoy meeting and serving the patients and find it very rewarding.

"I'd recommend this role to anyone."

Gurmit Jauhal, voluntary services manager at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: "There are so many benefits of becoming a hospital volunteer.

"Our volunteers love meeting new people, forming bonds with patients, visitors and staff and being active.

"We have 350 volunteers and they contribute in so many ways to help patients and visitors and all funds raised in the shops are used to improve patient care."
