Children at Skipton Parish Church Primary School were transported back in time to the Victorian era by a special visitor from the past.
‘Tom Wallis’, a Crimean soldier, helped children across KS1 re-enact the life and times of two very famous Victorian nurses, Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.
Children dressed up as the main protagonists and the people around them as they were taken on a virtual trip to the battlefields; boats and hospitals where their valuable work was carried out. Herbs and spices were crushed; sheets washed; floors swept and wounds bandaged to further help bring the sights and smells of the era to life.
Mrs Ward, KS1 Leader, said: ‘The crew really brought the era to life with children stepping into the shoes of the people they had been learning about. It was a fantastic learning experience and great fun too!’
