PEOPLE considering taking on the role of county councillor can learn all about how it is done and who qualifies.
Craven District Council is holding an information session aimed at prospective candidates and their agents.
The election to find county councillors, who will serve a four-year term, takes place on Thursday May 4.
The wards where elections will be held are Airedale, Mid-Craven, North Craven, Skipton East, Ribblesdale, Skipton West and South Craven.
Craven Council Chief Executive, Paul Shevlin, who will be a Deputy County Returning Officer at the elections, said: “I would encourage any person who is interested in seeking election as a county councillor to come to the information session, which will cover who is qualified or disqualified from standing, the nomination process, rules about spending and campaigning and how the election and count is managed.”
The information session will take place in the Alexandra Room, 1 Belle Vue Square, Skipton, on Tuesday, March 14, at 5pm.
In addition to the information session, details of how to stand as a candidate and information about the election are published on the Craven District Council website.
